Brimstone Butterfly

I was really pleased to spot this Brimstone Butterfly, apart from it being a very obliging subject it was in perfect condition, a lot of Butterflies at this time of year have very worn or damaged wings, but this one looked very fresh. I spent at least 45 minutes with it until my son finally managed to drag me away.

Such a simple colored butterfly becomes beautiful when contrasted with a brillant flower. Very nice. I too can't seem to get butterflies or dragon flys as I only have a pocket camera so that means I have to get within 3 feet at least. I did manage my 1st dragon fly this year only because I sat at a spot I knew a dragon fly would soon land at. It paid off. I finally go my close up as I was only 3 feet away.
