In the recent cold weather I found a Mistle Thrush using its initiative. It was following a mole around as it tunnelled beneath the frozen ground. It could obviously hear the mole moving as it would hop over the grass with it's head cocked to one side, until it reached the next mound of earth where the mole would then start to push more soil to the surface. The Thrush was taking advantage of the situation by foraging for food in the fresh unfrozen soil.
Very nice to be close to it.
