Iceland Trip - Long-tailed Duck

A species I was looking forward to photographing in Iceland was the Long-tailed Duck. I have photographed quite a few of them in the UK, but never in their breeding plumage. The males look very smart with their white heads and varying colours of brown, and of course their smart tails.

Long-tailed Duck

Another day out in North Wales and I stopped off at the river Clwyd in Rhuddlan for a female Long-tailed Duck which has been in residence there for at least a week now. It's been a few years since I photographed one of these Arctic breeding birds which usually winter at sea.
