Robins and Calendars

I have just added next years A4 calendars for sale on my website. There are two to choose from, these being Birds and Mammals. They were very popular last year and make great Christmas gifts at £10 each inc p&p. Here's the link to the page - Steven Round Bird Photography A4 Calendars

Recently I have added 150 new Robin images to my website, making a total of 250. With a great assortment, many are in frost and snow and I even have them skating on ice. I will do a festive post featuring some of them nearer Christmas.

Signs of Spring

A few shots of the singing Robin I spent some hours with yesterday. Frustratingly, he seemed to prefer to sing in the shade on an unusually sunny day.

Garden Birds

I have been concentrating on garden birds over the last week, I didn't really photograph any last year and there is always a demand for these type of images. With the sun getting a little higher each day I am now able to have some reasonable sessions in the garden.

Up Close and Personal

I thought I would do something a little different for this post. - A collection of close-up headshots of garden birds.
You can see how the face feathers differ between the species, the Nuthatch and particularly the Dunnock having quite course plumage, whereas the smaller Long-tailed Tit has very fine feathers.

Spring Song

As Spring seems to finally be here, I thought I would show a selection of singing bird images that I have taken over the last few weeks.  I'll start off with a Goldcrest, this is one of a pair that have built a nest in my garden, hopefully there will be more photographs to come of them as they start to feed their young.

Dunnock
I spent many hours waiting for this Wren to sing from the top of a pile of logs.  I knew he sang from there as I'd seen him previously but never when I had the camera in hand or when the light was good.  He finally performed and amusingly had a fly on his tongue while he was singing, which you can see on the large cropped version of the image below.
