Foxes

I have been regularly putting food out for the Foxes in the garden for several weeks. They will be busy feeding their cubs now and are obviously very hungry as they are coming to feed throughout the day. I am just starting to get the first decent photographs of them as they are becoming more relaxed with my presence, they even lie down and sunbathe now after eating. Hopefully the cubs might soon put in an appearance if I am lucky.

Ring Ouzel

Every spring we get a number of migrating Ring Ouzels turning up here on the Wirral. They are usually seen briefly and are not a very easy subject to photograph, certainly not as tame as it's cousin, the Blackbird. My previous attempts have only really produced record shots, so I was very pleased to have finally been able to spend some time with an obliging male. A few birdwatchers had come to view the bird and when they left I settled down and patiently waited. I was rewarded with some frame filling shots as it busily fed on worms. A great result.

Blue Tits in Flight

I was visiting a nature reserve earlier this week and having been walking around all morning, I decided to have my lunch by the bird feeding station. The birds were using the same flight path to the feeders each time, so I thought I could maybe try for some flight shots. I put on a 300mm lens, set the camera to manual focus and aimed just below the feeders. With my sandwich in one hand and camera in the other, every time a bird approached I took a couple of shots. A few of them have actually turned out ok.

Long-tailed Duck

Another day out in North Wales and I stopped off at the river Clwyd in Rhuddlan for a female Long-tailed Duck which has been in residence there for at least a week now. It's been a few years since I photographed one of these Arctic breeding birds which usually winter at sea.
