Fox Cubs

All my work has finally paid off in getting the Foxes to bring their cubs to feed. They were a little more mature than I would have liked but still cute and playful.

Butterflies

With some warm sunny weather finally here, us photographers can now complain about heat haze. This means taking sharp photographs of birds is almost impossible, except for the cooler conditions at the beginning and end of the day. I usually take advantage of this and spend some time photographing butterflies, dragonflies and insects. A trip out yesterday gave some reasonable results, although I never seem to get the shots I am after of the Orange Tips, they are a tricky species to get right.

I have finally got round to sorting through the 800 Black-winged Stilt images I took last year in Mallorca. It was the most photographed species of the week, as almost everywhere we went, they would be posing for the camera. From flying, wading in flat calm water, mating and even sitting on the nest, just about every possible shot was covered. Here are some of the first I have edited.

Wheatears

With some southerly winds yesterday there was a large movement of migrants through locally. I made the most of the sunshine and spent the day trying to photograph the many Wheatear that were passing through. Pre-occupied with feeding and bickering amongst themselves, I was able to get some frame filling close ups.

 

Foxes

I have been regularly putting food out for the Foxes in the garden for several weeks. They will be busy feeding their cubs now and are obviously very hungry as they are coming to feed throughout the day. I am just starting to get the first decent photographs of them as they are becoming more relaxed with my presence, they even lie down and sunbathe now after eating. Hopefully the cubs might soon put in an appearance if I am lucky.
